Bill Peterson was an outstanding Inside Linebacker for the Lock Haven University Bald Eagles from 1982 through the 1985 seasons. During his sophomore season, Bill made an enormous impact on the program by finishing the season 2nd on the team with 69 tackles. He also had 1 sack, 1 interception and 3 fumble recoveries. During his junior season Bill recorded 100 solo tackles, which still ranks 10th all-time for a single season at Lock Haven University. During his senior season Bill was again second on the team in tackles with 89. He also had 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery.
Bill’s outstanding play was recognized by him being named to the All-PSAC Second Team as a junior and First Team All-PSAC in his senior year. He was also named to the weekly Eastern Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) on several occasions throughout his fine career. Bill was recognized as an outstanding leader both on and off the football field by his teammates and the Lock Haven Football community. He was named team captain and he was the recipient of the Louis F. Carter Defensive MVP Award during his junior and senior years. Bill also received the Russ Carman Memorial Defensive Award in 1984 and 1985. In 1986, Bill was signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders.
After finishing his playing career, Bill coached football for six seasons. He coached at Lock Haven University in 1986, then went on to coaching jobs at FCS Division I James Madison University and in the Pennsylvania Conference at Clarion University.
Bill has had much success off the football field as a mentor and professional in assisting individuals in many areas. He is a senior-level executive with over twenty years success in professional sports, events, and business management. As an executive officer Bill has led business sectors, companies, and organizations such as NFL Europe (NFLEL), Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), Centerplate Corporation, and the North American Soccer League (NASL).
Bill has traveled to over 40 countries and has been involved worldwide in Soccer, NFLEL’s Championships, Tour of California, the Olympic Movement, USA Track and Field Championships, Cycling World Championships, Pro Tennis tournaments, Tennis and Soccer Academies, and so much more. Early in his career Bill was the youngest General Manager in the world in the professional sports industry and later in his career he served six years on the USA Cycling Pro Council and the Board of Directors, culminating in his Chairman position for three years. Bill continues his work as an executive officer in his field and has been a generous donor to many wonderful organizations and causes.
