Statement provided by Pat Guerriero, Maurice’s professor, mentor and friend: “I have been around Bald Eagle football for many years and have had the chance to know and work with many wonderful athletes. I believe Maurice is among the best both athletically and as a person. Although a tremendous workhorse in the backfield, he was just as unassuming off the field. Maurice truly permitted his actions to speak for themselves. He was very shy and humble but a beast on the field. He reminded me a division 2 Walter Payton. His nickname could have been Sweetness as he was a pleasure to watch compete. He was that good. I was fortunate to work with Maurice as a mentor as well. To say I wished my son to grow up to be a Maurice Walker as a human being is an understatement. He is the epitome of what we here at LHU football want as a representative. He is a perfect candidate for the Grid iron Greats!”
