Chris Hileman ‘02

It is with great pride and admiration that we celebrate the induction of Chris Hileman into the Lock Haven University Gridiron Greats. Chris, a 2002 graduate of Lock Haven University, has left an indelible mark on the field and in the hearts of his teammates and coaches. Standing at an imposing six feet four inches tall and weighing 240 pounds, Chris was a formidable presence on the gridiron. His exceptional athleticism made him a standout player from the very beginning.

Chris’s journey at LHU began as a true freshman, where he immediately made an impact as an inside linebacker. His versatility and talent soon saw him transition to the defensive end, where he became a relentless pass rusher from the edge. Throughout his four-year career, Chris’s leadership in the locker room was unparalleled. He was a beacon of hard work, dedication, and camaraderie, earning the respect and admiration of his peers. His work ethic and team-first mentality set a standard for others to follow, making him not just a great player, but a great teammate and leader.

On the field, Chris’s accomplishments are nothing short of legendary. He was a four year starter and earned All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference honors twice, a testament to his consistent excellence. Chris’s name is etched in the LHU record books, ranking third all-time in tackles for loss, first in yards tackled for loss, fifth in sacks, and fourth in all-time yards lost from sacks. His defensive prowess and ability to disrupt opposing offenses were key factors in the team’s success during his tenure.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Chris excelled academically, earning a place on the All-Pennsylvania Academic Team twice. His commitment to both his studies and his sport exemplifies the true spirit of a student-athlete. Chris’s leadership extended beyond the field as he served as a team captain for at least two years, possibly three, guiding his teammates with unwavering dedication and integrity.

Since graduating, Chris has continued to excel in his professional life as a decorated New York State Trooper. His success off the field reflects the same qualities that made him a standout player at LHU: determination, resilience, and a commitment to excellence.

We extend our most sincere congratulations to Chris Hileman on his induction into the Lock Haven University Gridiron Greats. His legacy as one of the “GREATS” of LHU football will forever be remembered and celebrated. Thank you, Chris, for your remarkable contributions to Lock Haven University and for inspiring future generations of student-athletes.
