Brandon Brader

Brandon Brader, a 2014 graduate of Lock Haven University, is a standout nominee for the LHU Gridiron Greats. He was a formidable force on the field, playing the position of Running Back with exceptional skill and determination.

The Bethlehem native was a captain and a key component of Liberty High School’s 2008 Class AAAA state championship team. He was recruited to Lock Haven University by assistant coach Terry Szucs.

Redshirted in 2009, he had his breakout season in 2011, where he rushed for 1068 yards. He finished the 2011 season with games against Edinboro, IUP and Bloomsburg, rushing for 194, 117 and 164 yards respectively, while averaging 30+ carries per game. For his efforts, he was named to the All-PSAC West Team, the final year Lock Haven University competed in the Western Division of the Pennsylvania Conference.

Brandon would go on to finish a career that was first class He finished top 5 in rushing, attempts, and yards per game.

Brandon was the recipient of numerous accolades during his career, the George “Big Train” Dintiman award (2011, 2013), given out to the Offensive MVP, and Fred Caro Captains Award (2012, 2013) along with being named to the all-PSAC West team in 2011 and the all-PSAC East team in 2013.

Brandon Brader was loved and respected at LHU, which is reflected in this comment from his coach: “Brandon Brader is the heartbeat of our program, he plays with an outward passion and love for the game, his teammates and his school. He isn’t afraid to show his emotions, he has a huge personality, the only thing bigger is his heart. You need that on your team.”

Brader’s achievements were not limited to the field. He was a team-selected captain in his Junior and Senior years, demonstrating his leadership skills and commitment to his team.
